The Gospel of Mark is an introductory text to:
Matthew, Luke, Acts of the Apostles and the
Gospel of John.

Mark sets out the basics for a society based upon Law.
One may assume that Law is based upon Authority.
But what is authority based upon?
Mark provides a list for this.
He then sets out basics for a society based upon Order.
One may assume that 'Order' needs a sense of Direction.
But what is a sense of direction based upon?
Mark provides a list for this.
He defines "the child" as one who can move between both these types of society.
The 'adult child' is one who 'raises the bar' of the three commandments that are common
to practically all intra-species behaviour
Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. They shalt not steal.
Mark then structures his crucifixion story to portray a whole range of social responses.
Everyone needs to cope with these and the way in which they do so largely determines their own
'power of one".

Matthew sets out pre-requisites for
a society based upon Law.
|
Matthew introduces the 'child' who grows up in a society based upon law
He then sets out a list of how to develop the best type of a society based upon law.
- in terms of individual effort and then
- in terms of a social environment.
He then sets out a list of what such a society should try to avoid.
In his crucifixion story he shows how forgiveness lies at the heart of a leader-disciple
relationship that underpins this society.

Luke sets out pre-requisites for
a society based upon Order
|
Luke introduces the 'child' who grows up in a society based upon order
He then sets out a list of how to develop the best type of a society based upon order.
- in terms of individual effort and then
- in terms of a social environment.
He then sets out a list of what such a society should try to avoid.
Luke's next a section is about a "kingdom figure" who stands up for their rights.
In his crucifixion story he shows how forgiveness overcomes the narrowness tendency of a society based upon law
and the 'loud voice' that can be found in a society based upon order.
